How Does GeneroUS Work?
Who do we want to participate…?
During this campaign, we will ask members and friends of the Center of Hope to “give more” and “do more” by being generous toward others. Our motivation comes from 1 Timothy 6:18: “Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.” We will offer our attendees specific opportunities to give time, money (gifts as well), and food to benefit others.*
*All financial donations to GeneroUS are tax deductible
What we want to happen…?
It is our hope that those participating in GeneroUS, though they are doing and giving to benefit others, will be changed by the power of generosity. Giving money changes the way we view our wealth. Giving our time changes our perspectives on our priorities. Generosity releases us from the hold that our time and possessions can have over us. We start thinking more about other people, and that alone causes growth and change.
When We Want This To Happen…
Pledges begin Sunday, September 16th, collections kick off Sunday, October 14th through the end of the year – volunteering can happen year round with hours reported in the 4th quarter
Benefit organizations are selected based on…
We want to be good stewards of the GeneroUS campaign, so we have carefully chosen our partner organizations. These nonprofits are already doing great work in their communities (locally and across the globe) and have excellent leadership, financial health, and service histories. One hundred percent of all donations go to help others; no administrative costs are subtracted.
